FILM: “Any Day Now” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. An award-winning film directed by Travis Fine about a gay couple (Alan Cumming and Garret Dillahunt) who takes in an abandoned teenager with Down syndrome (Isaac Leyva) and becomes the loving family he’s never had. 6pm. $7; students $5.

MUSIC: Lazy River Groove @ Putnam Den, Saratoga Springs. Members of the High Peaks Band and friends serve up a Dead Shakedown by rummaging through the Grateful Dead songbook. 9pm. FREE.

FILM: “Consuming Spirits” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Nearly 15 years in the making, Chris Sullivan’s film is a meticulously constructed tour de force of experimental animation. Shooting frame by frame in 16mm, Sullivan seamlessly blends together a range of techniques – cutout animation, pencil drawing, collage and stop-motion animation – into a distinct visual style, constructing a suspenseful gothic tale that tracks the intertwined lives of three kindred spirits working at a local newspaper in a Midwestern rust belt town. 8pm. $7; students $5.

FILM: “The Sessions” @ the Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Ben Lewin’s acclaimed film about a poet paralyzed from the neck down due to polio (John Hawkes), who has long been confined to an iron lung but decides he wants to lose his virginity, so he hires a sex surrogate (Helen Hunt). 7:30pm. $7; students $5.
