MUSIC: Jesse Cook @ The Egg, Albany. The Canadian guitarist blends exotic Spanish rumba flamenco with elements of jazz and flawless technique to create a contemporary sound that has earned a Juno Award for Best Instrumental Album, Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s Player’s Choice Award and his own PBS television special. 8pm. $29.50.

MUSIC: Holly & Evan @ Brunswick Barbecue and Brew, Troy. It’s their last local show before heading down to Memphis to represent the Local 518 at the International Blues Challenge at the end of the month. 8pm.

ART RECEPTION: “Framing the Catskills” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Nature photographer Francis X. Driscoll and folk/tramp artist Michael Lavery have collaborated on the project that was conceived in the aftermath of the flooding from Hurricane Irene, as both artists wanted to celebrate the beauty of the Catskill Mountains in spite of all the devastation. 6pm. Director Leos Carax has concocted one of the most surreal films of 2012, chronicling a day in the life of the mysterious Monsieur Oscar (Denis Levant), who leads different lives as he slips seamlessly through several alternate realities. 7:30pm. $7; students $5.
