THEATER: Michael Cooper’s “Masked Marvels and Wondertales” @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. A one-man theatrical extravaganza featuring handcrafted masks, stories of courage and wonder and a physical repertoire ranging from the madcap to the sublime. Eye-popping artistry from a virtuoso puppeteer and mime whose performances dazzle audiences of all ages. 2pm. $14 & $18; students $10.
MUSIC: Manhattan Transfer @ The Egg, Albany. Janis Siegel, Cheryl Bentyne, Alan Paul and Troy native Tim Hauser perform music from their Grammy Award-winning, 40-year career as the world’s most popular jazz vocal group. 8pm. $39.50. UPDATE: This show is officially sold out.
PERFORMANCE: CREW/Eric Joris @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. the Belgian-based multimedia team of artists and researchers presents “HeadSwap,” integrating the latest technology into theatrical events, which create new ways of playing and experiencing the medium. They have personalized immersive environments for the audience—challenging common notions of (tele)presence, spectatorship and narration. 7pm. FREE.

THEATER: “Speed Curses” @ Collar Works, Troy. Writer-director Josh Chambers fuzes together theater and baseball in a multimedia neo-operatic performance event that utilizes music, collage, writing and film. 8pm. $25.
MUSIC: Stephen Bluhm @ the Spotty Dog, Hudson. Bluhm writes danceable pop in the vein of Morrissey, the Magnetic Fields and Burt Bacharach. With Betsi Krisinksi. Jake Perry and Bluhm will DJ the after-party. 8pm. $5.
FILM: “Any Day Now” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. An award-winning film directed by Travis Fine about a gay couple (Alan Cumming and Garret Dillahunt) who takes in an abandoned teenager with Down syndrome (Isaac Leyva) and becomes the loving family he’s never had. 8pm. $7; students $5.
FILM: “Celeste” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. A 1981 film written and directed by Percy Adlon that depicts the creative process of Marcel Proust and his relationship with his young French housekeeper, Celeste Albaret. 5:30pm. $7; students $5.
FILM: “Ben-Hur” @ Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. William Wyler’s 1959 epic of the Roman Empire in Palestine stars Charlton Heston and a cast of thousands in a jaw-dropping spectacle that garnered 11 Oscars. 2pm. FREE.
