MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Bands n’ Beans @ Roaring Brook Ranch, Lake George. Hot chili and hot music will be celebrated at the annual Lake George Arts Project benefit. Featuring more than 30 restaurants competing in the chili cook-off contest and music by Rich Ortiz & Friends, the Stony Creek Band, Rattail Jimmy, Master Cylinders and more. 2-7pm. $20.
FILM: “Beyond Iconic” @ Upstate Films, Woodstock. Filmmaker Hanna Sawka’s 75-minute documentary about photographer Dennis Stock, who created some of the most famous images in the world. Followed by a Q&A with the director and a reception at the Center for Photography featuring live jazz by Teri Roiger & John Menegon who composed the soundtrack for the film. 1:30pm. $10; seniors $9.
FILM: “Ferlinghetti: A Re-birth of Wonder” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. With this definitive documentary, director Christopher Felver crafts an incisive, sharply wrought portrait that reveals Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s true role as catalyst for numerous literary careers and for the Beat movement itself. 4pm. $7; students $5.
MUSIC: Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls @ the Upstate Concert Hall, Clifton Park. The London-based folk-punk singer-songwriter and his band offer a preview of his upcoming new album Tape Deck Heart, slated for release in April. With Steve Layman. 7:30pm. $17.
FILM: “Any Day Now” @ Proctors, Schenectady. This beautiful film shows bravery in the face of discrimination in order to build a family. Bravery is something the world needs more of. 6pm. $9; students $7.
MUSIC: Vladimir Feltsman @ Union College’s Memorial Chapel, Schenectady. The Russian piano virtuoso performs works by Haydn and Schubert, as well as Mussorgsky’s ever-popular “Pictures at an Exhibition.” 3pm. $25; students $10.
FILM: “Stud Life” @ Proctors, Schenectady. New romantic relationships are challenging. But what if an old friendship gets in the way of that? “Stud Life” takes us to England to give us a snapshot at the stud lifestyle in the working class. 2pm. $9; students $7.
