Festival Fever: FreshGrass @ MASS MoCA, 9/20-22/13
The initial line-up of bands has been announced for the third annual FreshGrass Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams. The fest will take place from Friday-Sunday, September 20-21, and the roster of performers features both die-hard traditionalists and progressive-minded pickers alike.
This year the fest will have a new main stage out in the grassy Joe’s Field. And the line-up has expanded considerably up to 20 bands from 13 last year. Also for the first time, the fest will also host a battle of the bands in which the winning band will receive $5,000 and $1,000 of recording time at Compass Records in Nashville. Entries for the contest will begin on May 1.
Three-day, all-festival tickets are available for $78; students $68. Limited number of Friday single-day tickets are available for $28; student $18; child under 16 $8. Single-day tickets for Saturday or Sunday are $38; students $28; children under 16 $18.
