FUNDRAISER: “TSL: The First 40 Years” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Guests will be greeted by Highland piper, Neil A. Roberts, who will begin playing outdoors just after 6pm, calling all to assemble. There will be music by pianist extraordinaire Lincoln Mayorga. And you can bet on Linda Mussmann saying some words, too. Hors d’oeuvres, cheese, supper and, of course, anniversary cake. 6:30pm. $40.
READING/PERFORMANCE: Albany Word Fest Invitational Slam @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Albany’s own Nitty Gritty Slam will be joined by Verbal Slap (CT), Underground Poetry Spot (Syracuse), Suffern Slam (NY), Jersey City Slam (NJ) and Buffalo Slam (NY) to compete for prizes and wrap up Albany WordFest 2013. 6pm. $12. THEATER: “Radio Heaven” @ College of Saint Rose’s Campus Theatre, Albany. Re-creating vintage radio shows – classic soap opera, comedy, suspense and how-to shows, complete with those wonderfully annoying commercials. 7pm. $10. Through Sunday.
THEATER/MUSIC: “Four Seasons, Four Years – The Civil War: A Musical Journey” @ the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Averill Park. Created and directed by Andy Spence, this unique musical and personal history lesson features Greg Artzner, Dan Berggren, Betsy and Steve Fry, Reggie Harris, Terry Leonino, John Roberts, Bill Spence, Toby Stover, Susan Trump and George Wilson. 8pm. $20.
THEATER/MUSIC: “Echoing Back: The Songs of Johnny Mercer” @ Fort Salem Theater, Salem. This revue of tunes from the man who wrote such gems as “Come Rain or Come Shine” and “Moon River” was created and directed by Broadway performer Karin Baker with arrangements by musical director David Hancock Turner. 8pm. $25 (including $6 credit for refreshments).
READING: Nancy Kricorian @ the Spotty Dog, Hudson. The author reads from her new novel “All the Light There Was,” about an Armenian family’s struggle to survive the Nazi occupation of Paris in the 1940s. 4pm.
