Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements

The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has added a handful of impressive new shows to its line-up, including Jimmy Eat World at 8pm on Wednesday, July 3 ($27 in advance; $30 at the door; on sale at 10am on Friday); Halestorm at 8pm on Friday, August 9 ($19 in advance; $21 at the door; on sale at 10am on Friday); and the mammoth Summer Slaughter fest at 2pm on Saturday, August 10, featuring Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle, Decapitation, the Ocean, Revocation, Aeon, Rings of Saturn, Thy Art Is Murder, March to Victory and Hollow Is Thy Heart ($25 in advance; $27 at the door; on sale at 1pm on Thursday).
New additions to the concert calendar at the Bearsville Theater include Donna the Buffalo at 9pm on Saturday, June 22 ($25 & $35) and the sublime singer-songwriter Beth Orton at 9pm on Saturday, August 3 ($25, $35 & $45).
WAMC-FM’s The Linda in Albany is scheduled to play host to Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne, who will be accompanied by Little Feat drummer Gabe Ford. Dubbed “Tracing Footsteps : A Journal of Music, Photography and Tales From the Road,” the performance is slated for 8pm on Sunday, June 16. UPDATED at 7pm on Wednesday, 5/1/13: The date of the performance is Tuesday, June 18. Tickets are $18 in advance; $23 at the door.
Three-time Grammy-nominated Cuban jazz supergroup Tiempo Libre teams up with pianist Alfredo Rodriguez for a concert at Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center in Saratoga Springs at 7:30pm on Thursday, June 6. The performance is part of the Saratoga ArtsFest, and tickets are $25; $10 with an ArtsPass.
The Ale House in Troy is hosting a big Bill Kirchen Birthday Bash at 9pm on Saturday, June 29, and the twangmaster of the Telecaster will be joined by special guests. BBQ, too! Tickets are $20.
Sublime singer-songwriter and Grammy nominee Tift Merritt has already played WAMC-FM’s The Linda and Club Helsinki in recent months, but she’s coming back to Nippertown for another handful of shows. She’ll grace the stage at the intimate Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs at 7pm on Tuesday, May 21. Tickets are $22 in advance. Merritt will also land at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Thursday & Friday, July 25 & 26, where she’ll be the special guest for Andrew Bird. Tickets are $40.
There’s been no official announcement yet from Vapor Nightclub in Saratoga Springs, but according to the band’s website, veteran southern rockers 38 Special are slated to ride into the spotlight on Thursday, August 29. Showtime and ticket prices TBA.
New on the concert calendar at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs is the Southern gospel group the Gaither Vocal Band, who are scheduled to grace the SPAC stage at 2pm on Wednesday, May 29. Reserved amphithteater seats are $29, $39, $49 & $64; lawn $19.
Grupo Fantasma are headed into Club Helsinki in Hudson for a concert at 9pm on Friday, June 14. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door.
UPDATED: We initially announced SPAC date for the AmericanaramA Festival of Music more than a week ago, but now the filks at Live Nation have made it official. Yes, Bob Dylan, Wilco, My Morning Jacket and Ryan Bingham are joining forces at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The folks at MASS MoCA announced a big batch of new concerts for the summer season, including the Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, soul sensation Bettye LaVette, the Alloy Orchestra, Gabriel Kahane, Bang On a Can All-Stars, Mucca Pazza and A Tribe Called Red.
CANCELLED: Gramatik has cancelled their scheduled tour stop at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Saturday (May 4) “due to circumstances beyond their control.” Refunds are available at the place of purchase.
OPENERS: Dugas has been named the opening act for the Zac Brown Band at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Saturday, August 31.
