Win a FREE Ticket to Tony Trischka at Caffe Lena on Friday!

Tony Trischka is perhaps the most influential banjo player in the roots music world.
For more than 35 years, his unique and innovative banjo stylings have inspired a whole generation of bluegrass and acoustic musicians. He is not only considered among the very best pickers, he’s also one of the instrument’s top teachers and has created numerous instructional books and videos. Heck, Bela Fleck was one of his students…
He’s been a member of numerous ground-breaking bands from Country Cooking to Breakfast Special, from Skyline to Psychograss. He’s played on Broadway (“The Robber Bridegroom”), feature film soundtracks (“Foxfire”) and television specials (musical director for PBS-TV’s “Give Me the Banjo”). His 2007 album Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular earned him three top awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association, including Banjo Player of the Year and Best Album of the Year. He produced Steve Martin’s album Rare Bird Alert, which paired the comedian-turned-banjo player with such guests as Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks.
Now Tony Trischka is headed into the intimate Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Friday (May 3). Tickets are $24 in advance; $26 at the door.
