FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Solid Sound Festival @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. After a year’s hiatus, Greater Nippertown’s best music festival returns for a three-day run. Day One features White Denim, the Relatives, Yo La Tengo and festival host-band Wilco, the latter playing a fearless, all-request headline set. Music starts at 6:30pm. $65. MUSIC: The Bruce Barth/Steve Nelson Quartet @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. In support of Barth’s latest album, Three Things of Beauty, the sparkling sounds of pianist Barth and vibes player Nelson are buttressed by drummer Michael Benedict and bassist Mike Lawrence, both of Bopitude. 7:30pm. $18.

MUSIC: Ian McLagan @ the Bearsville Theater. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Small Faces and the Faces, Mac has been a longtime session keyboardist, who can be heard on such classics as the Rolling Stones’ “Miss You,” Rod Stewart’s “Maggie May” and countless other hits. 9pm. $25.

MUSIC: Jim James @ Pearl Street, Northampton. The My Morning Jacket frontman lands in the Northampton spotlight in support of his new solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God.
