6/24/13: Today’s Tips: Monday
MUSIC: The Blisters @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Fresh from their performance at Solid Sound on Sunday, the Chicago-based teen rockers roll into Valentine’s. Led by drummer Spencer Tweedy, the band makes an Albany stop in support of their new album, Finally Bored. With Florist and Mike & Amy Shift the Paradigm.
MUSIC: The Sharrows @ Bogie’s, Albany. The Madison, Wisconsin band headlines a night of Americana music, which also features Decadence from North Creek, Wyatt from NYC and Nippertown’s own the Lazy Suns. 7pm.
MUSIC: Sonny Rock’s All-Star Blues Band Jam @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. It looks like Club Helsinki’s Monday Night Showcase is going on hiatus, so come on down and catch the free music while you can. 8pm. FREE.
THEATER ON FILM: “The Audience” @ Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. Helen Mirren reprises her Academy Award-winning role as Queen Elizabeth II in this highly–anticipated West End production, broadcast from the National Theatre of London. 7pm. $15; $12 under 12.
MUSIC: The Duke McVinnie Band @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. McVinnie and his band – Jane Scarpantoni, Matthew Cullen, Manuel Quintana, Tom Goss and Colin Almquist – will be joined by special guests during their month-long Monday evening residency. 8pm. $10.
FILM: “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” @ Proctors’ Mainstage, Schenectady. Steven Spielberg’s 1977 classic. 1:30, 4:30 & 7:30pm. $5.
