Real Good for FREE: Dana Park Concert Series

Dana Park is the little pocket park at the corner of Lark Street and Madison Avenue in Albany. And while the park may be tiny, it will be hosting some big sounds this summer with the Dana Park Concert Series, a series of free weekly Monday night concerts. The series kicks off at 6pm tonight (Monday, July 8) with the double bill of the New York Jazz Duo and Olivia Quillio.

Co-sponsored by the Aurora Foundation of Northeast Inc. and the Lark Street Business Improvement District (BID), a series of eight free concerts will be presented this summer in the park. The concerts are free and are scheduled to take place from 7-9pm unless otherwise noted. The rain site for the concerts is Justin’s on Lark.

Here’s the line-up of concerts for the 2013 summer:

Tonight (July 8), 6pm: The New York Jazz Duo (be-bop jazz) With Olivia Quillio.

July 15: Shadowland (Celtic-American roots music)

July 22: Ramblin Jug Stompers (78 RPM music for the 21st century)

July 29: The Nellies (rootsy, alt-country, Americana)

August 5: The Ramblin’ Drifters (bluegrass, traditional country, folk, originals)

August 12: The Pine Hills String Band (old-time string band music)

August 19: Low ‘N Lonesome (finger-picked blues and ragtime)

August 26, 6pm: The Dylan Perrillo Orchestra (traditional big band jazz. With special guest Meara McTague.
