It’s Ernie Williams Day in Cohoes Today

The late great bluesman Ernie Williams is being honored today in Cohoes, where he lived from 2000 until his death in March, 2012. Cohoes Mayor George Primeau has proclaimed today as Ernie Williams Day, and the celebration will culminate at 7pm when the Canal Square Stage will officially be re-named the Ernie Williams Band Stand.
The celebration will take place this evening on the Remsen Street stage during a free concert by Back Beat, which features Primeau on bass and former Ernie Williams Band saxman Charlie Vatalaro. The concert is scheduled to take place from 6:30-8:30pm as part of the Canal Square Summer Concert Series.
