Festival Fever: The Hudson Music Festival, 8/9-11/13

The third annual Hudson Music Festival takes over the restaurants, watering holes, art galleries, parks and the streets of Hudson for three days of free music from Friday, August 9 through Sunday, August 11.
A lot of bands familiar to the Nippertown music scene will be participating, ranging from the political punk of the Last Conspirators to the blues of Holly & Evan, from the alt-country-rock of the Lazy Suns to the instrumental rock-meets-jazz trio TN3, from the fab funk of Oobleck to the rootsy Americana sound of Rick Rourke & Lost Wages.
But the fest also offers to opportunity to sample and discover the sounds of dozens of other bands that you perhaps have never even heard about – bands like the Living, Everything Belle, the Hayrollers, Josh Max & the Smash And Grab Band, the Grahams, PP Junior’s Delta Trio, Ariana & the Rose…
Over the course of the three days, the fest will serve up more than 150 performances in more than 20 different venues throughout Hudson, all within walking distance of each other. There are only a very few shows in the fest that are charging admission – the Happy Jawbone Family Band at the Spotty Dog on Friday evening ($5) and the Armen Donelian/Marc Mommaas/Sheila Jordan jazz trio at the Hudson Opera House on Sunday afternoon ($10) – but the vast majority of the performances are absolutely free of charge, so come on down and soak up the sounds.
