Real Good for FREE: September in the City Art Fair @ Albany’s Tricentennial Park

On Wednesday (September 4) the annual September in the City Art Fair returns to downtown Albany’s Tricentennial Park (on Broadway across the street from the Albany Center Gallery). Each Wednesday at lunchtime this month, the park becomes a pop-up art gallery and concert venue, showcasing some of Nippertown’s finest artists – both visual and musical. The free weekly art fairs are held from 11:30am-2pm on Wednesdays throughout the month of September.

Here’s the schedule of free musical performances for the September in the City Art Fair 2013:

WEDNESDAY (SEPTEMBER 4)
Matt Durfee: Formerly one-half of the acoustic duo Palatypus, Durfee’s fine vocals and deft figerpicking capitivate listeners. He’s currently working on his solo album debut, Little World, and you can help via his Kickstarter campaign.

SEPTEMBER 11
Melange a Trois: Spun-off from powerhouse jazz-funk band the Chronicles, hornmen Jeff Nania and Bryan Brundige blow hard and heavy against the beat of rhythm scientist Nick Kopp, blending the sounds of Havana and Bourbon Street into an intriguing, high-energy sound.

SEPTEMBER 18
Rosary Beard: The acclaimed acoustic guitar duo of Matthew Loiacono (Matthew Carefully, Kamikaze Hearts) and Hunter Sagehorn (Alta Mira) serve up intricately woven instrumental music from their debut album, Halfmoon Fever, and maybe some new stuff, too.

SEPTEMBER 25
Zan Strumfeld: Since the release of her seven-song EP, Someone New, the Albany-based singer-songwriter has quickly become a Local 518 fave on the Nippertown music scene.
