When it comes to music at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA, it is often up-close and personal, as with these two minor treasures that are coming to their third floor Club B-10 in October.

Drummer Ben Perowsky cut his teeth collaborating with the likes of John Cale and Ben Frisell, then broke ground driving back beats for cutting-edge collectives like Joan as Policewoman and the Lounge Lizards. On Saturday, October 5, at 8 PM, Perowsky’s Moodswing Orchestra, a carefully curated cauldron of NYC’s hottest musicians, bubbles up in MASS MoCA’s Club B-10.

One of the most accomplished drummers of his generation, Ben Perowsky’s notable career has placed him among a small vanguard of players able to move between jazz, experimental music and cutting-edge pop and rock. Starting at a very young age, he worked with a list of artists who form a who’s who of the cutting-edge music world. The first-call drummer for artists from John Zorn to John Scofield to John Medeski, Perowsky played beats on the disco hit song “Blind” by Hercules and Love Affair, toured with Canadian pop stars Tegan and Sara, and continues to record and produce tracks while residing in New York City.
