10/10/13: Today’s Tips: Thursday

DANCE: David Dorfman Dance @ MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center, North Adams. In the wake of recent stunning performances at Jacob’s Pillow and The Egg, Dorfman’s dance company is coming back to Nippertown to serve up a brand new, pre-premiere of “Come, And Back Again,” a new multimedia work driven by the charged poetry and ferocity of punk, folk-rock and indie music. Five dancers, a band of musicians, a junk sculpture – contributed to by audience members – and stunning projections create a kinetic anthem about humanity. 8pm. $15; $10 students.

TALK: “The Summer of 2013: White Heterosexist Performance and the Critical Consumer (or, What Was Miley Cyrus Thinking?)” @ Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, Saratoga Springs. University of California ethnomusicologist Deborah Wong takes a critical look at contemporary American pop music. 8pm. FREE.
