If you’re a guitar freak in Nippertown, chances are that you’re just about broke now. The parade of bona fide guitar heroes who have graced Local 518 stages in recent weeks is pretty astounding – David Bromberg at the Bearsville Theater. Eddie Angel & Los Straitjackets at the Ale House. Joe Satriani and Steve Morse at the Palace Theatre. Jeff Beck at the Palace, too…

And then there was Steve Hackett at The Egg. It was billed as Hackett’s Genesis Revisited World Tour, and he certainly didn’t skimp on the classic prog-rock guitar extravaganzas of his ’70s tenure with Genesis. In fact, it was Genesis galore from the opening salvo of “Watcher of the Skies” to the finale, “Los Endos”…

And fortunately, his band – featuring keyboardist Roger King, drummer Gary O’Toole, Rob Townsend on sax and flute; bassist Lee Pomeroy and Swedish singer Nad Sylvan – was up to the task, too.
