MUSIC: Voodoo Orchestra North @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Master drummer, improviser and composer Bobby Previte leads his all-star band in the fourth in a series of performances devoted to exploring the music of Miles Davis’ jazz-funk masterwork, Bitches Brew. 8pm. $7.
THEATER ON FILM: “Othello” @ Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. The National Theatre presents a major new production of William Shakespeare’s celebrated play about the destructive power of jealousy. Olivier Award-winning actor Adrian Lester takes on the title role. 7pm. $15; $12 children ages 12 & under.
THEATER: “Mary and Edith: Musings by Women a Century Apart” @ the
Unicorn Theatre, Stockbridge. Celebrate Berkshire women writers with an evening of stories old and new. Mary Mott will share stories of her life (“From Where I Sit”) and Kate Maguire and Kim Taylor will perform a stage adaptation of “Roman Fever,” a short
story by one of the Berkshires’ most well known authors, Edith Wharton. 2pm. $30. Through October 20.
FILM: “Jaws” @ Proctors, Schenectady. The original summer blockbuster? Decide for yourself as you watch Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss in Steven Spielberg’s 1975 on-the-beach thriller. 2:30, 5 & 7:30pm. $5.
