Must See! Rockin’ Texas troubadour Joe Ely is making a long-overdue return to Nippertown at 8pm on Thursday, November 14 at the Hangar in Troy. Tickets are available at the Ale House for $25 and worth every penny.
In support of their new CD, Smiles, the Spampinato Brothers are slated to return to the Ale House in Troy on Sunday, November 10. Also new on the Ale House concert schedule is Peter Rowan – an alum of such bands as Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys, Seatrain, Earth Opera and Old & In the Way – who steps into the spotlight at 8pm on Sunday, December 1. Tickets are $30.
Proctors in Schenectady is playing host to a unique concert at 7pm on Sunday, November. The show is titled WGNA-FM’s Secret Star Acoustic Jam, and it will feature three country music stars. WGNA-FM’s website explains it like this: “The stars are introduced one by one, each taking a moment to interact with the crowd, then performing one of their many hit songs. Once all three stars are on stage, they each take a turn performing their hits and interacting with you, the audience, in a very unique setting.” The hitch? WGNA isn’t saying who will be stepping into the spotlight, and you won’t find out who they are until they hit the stage. Tickets are $18.50.
In support of their new album, Death by Stereo, progressive rockers Umphrey’s McGee will be rolling into the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 8pm on Thursday, February 6. Priced at $20 in advance ($25 at the door), tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, November 1.

Bluegrass pioneer and mandolin master Frank Wakefield will celebrate the release of his new album, A Tribute to Bill Monroe, with a concert at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Saturday, November 23. Tickets are $15.
The Kleinert James Arts Center in Woodstock is playing host to a Songwriters’ Roundtable at 8pm on Friday, November 29. The special benefit performance for the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild will feature Simone Felice, Simi Stone and Gilbane Peck, as well as guest cellist Gabriel Dresdale. All tickets are $25, general admission.
