Vieux Farka Touré @ the Sanctuary for Independent Media, Troy. The Malian blues guitar sensation – dubbed the “Hendrix of the Sahara” by critics – mixes tradition from his African roots with American blues and jazz to create a shimmering sonic fusion. His new album Mon Pays (My Country) was recorded as homage to his homeland, which has been splintered by violence.

THEATER/MUSIC: “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” @ Williams College’s ’62 Center for Theater and Dance, Williamstown. The deliciously decadent London cabaret trio the Tiger Lillies bring their mesmerizing production of Samuel Taylor Colleridge’s epic poem to life. 8pm. $10. GO HERE for more info…

MUSIC: Kurt Vile & the Violators @ BSP Lounge, Kingston. The Philadelphia-based songwriter and insightful slacker poet, has made quite a name for himself in the last five years, and his new album, Wakin’ On a Pretty Daze, just may be his best yet. With VBA. 9pm. $25.

MUSIC: Chanticleer @ Proctors, Schenectady. The San Francisco-based, Grammy Award-winning 12-member male vocal ensemble performs “She Said/He Said,” a program the features selections from their upcoming album, Someone New, that stretch from Hildegard von Bingen to Joni Mitchell. 8pm. $20-$50.
