Win FREE Tickets to Peter Rowan @ the Hangar on Sunday

Bluegrass fans may know him best as the former guitarist and vocalist with the legendary Bill Monroe & the Bluegrass Boys, and more recently with the bluegrass guitar phenom Tony Rice.

Classic rock fans know him from his stints with such groundbreaking ’60s bands as Earth Opera and Seatrain.

Jam band fans and Deadheads know him from his tenure in Old & in the Way with Jerry Garcia, David Grisman and Vassar Clements. And let’s not forget that he also wrote the New Riders of the Purple Sage’s anthemic “Panama Red.”

And at 8pm on Sunday evening (December 1), the masterful Peter Rowan will take the stage at the oh so funky-but-chic, intimate, new Troy hotspot the Hangar. The concert is presented by the Ale House.

He’ll be bringing along special guest Yungchen Lhamo, the Tibetan-born, NYC-based singer-songwriter whose music has been described as “brilliant” (The New Yorker), “sublime” (Rolling Stone), and “spine-tingling” (The London Times).

Earth Opera opened for The Doors at SPAC in August, 1968. I remember being dazzled by “The American Eagle Tragedy”.
