Win FREE Tickets to Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds @ the Hollow on Thursday

Powerhouse soul-funk vocalist Sister Sparrow (aka, Arleigh Kincheloe) was born and raised in the Catskill Mountains, and her horn-fueled, righteously rockin’ band the Dirty Birds have graced plenty of Nippertown stages over the course of the past year or two, from Jillian’s to Putnam Den, from Club Helsinki to Mountain Jam to the Upstate Concert Hall. On Thursday evening, Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds come to roost at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany. But don’t expect to find the band in the clubs much longer. They’re ready for the big-time…

The band has racked up several top-flight recordings, but it’s their go-for-the-throat live performances that have cemented the band’s reputation as one of the most promising of the up-and-coming bands in the land. And their brand new disc, Fight, produced by former “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson, has pushed them ever closer to big-time breakthrough status.

Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds take over the Hollow in Albany on Thursday night (December 5). Doors open at 8pm; showtime is 9pm. Opening the show will be Woodstock guitar wunderkind Connor Kennedy. Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 at the door.

BUT WAIT… Have we got a deal for you! We’re giving away a pair of FREE TICKETS to the show to a lucky Nippertown reader! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The deadline to enter is 12noon on Thursday (December 5), and the winner will be selected at random and notified on Thursday afternoon. Enter today! And good luck! Congratulations to the winner, who has been notified by email.

Nippertown should consider e-mailing the guy who commented about Connor Kennedy + Red Square. I’d hate to see him miss an amazing show at The Hollow. At least the friendly door man at Red Square would redirect him to the proper venue. Cheers!
