1. THE FIRST ALBUM I EVER BOUGHT WAS … Buddy Rich and Max Roach’s Rich vs. Roach. This is still an amazing record. Such a difference in their styles. Two really great bands.

2. THE FIRST CONCERT THAT I EVER SAW WAS … Buddy Rich at JB Scott’s. I think I’m still in shock over 30 years later. Absolute genius.

3. THE FIRST MUSICAL INSTRUMENT I EVER OWNED OR PLAYED WAS … Drumset. I got my first drumset at the age of five for Christmas, 1970.

4. THE FIRST SONG THAT I EVER PERFORMED IN PUBLIC WAS … “Born to Be Wild”

5. THE FIRST BAND I WAS EVER IN WAS … the Bishop Maginn Jazz Ensemble

Pete Sweeney slips behind his drum kit at 6pm on Saturday (December 6) to join pianist Dave Gleason and bassist Mike Lawrence in the Peanut Gallery Jazz Trio for their annual family-friendly holiday performance of “It’s a Jazzy Christmas” at the College of Saint Rose’s Massry Center in Albany. Tickets are $20; $10 studendts; FREE children five and under.
