LIVE: First Night Saratoga @ Saratoga Springs, 12/31/13

They came to the First Night Saratoga celebration say goodbye to 2013 and hello to 2014. And if you were looking to be entertained, well, you had plenty of options.

There were more than three dozen performance locations all around downtown Saratoga Springs. The Latin-tinged jazz of the Geo-Beat Quartet, the improv comedy of the Mop & Bucket Company, the blues of Holly & Evan, the classic soul and Motown of Garland Nelson’s Soul Session, the captivating tunes of singer-songwriter Ariana Gillis, the vintage Americana of Ramblin Jug Stompers, the Gypsy swing of C.C. Vagabonds, the bristling power-pop of the Charlie Watts Riots, the sparkling piano jazz of the Lee Shaw Trio, and so much more.

And who the best of the batch? “The highlight of the night was Garland Nelson’s Soul Session at the Saratoga City Center,” according to photographer Andrzej Pilarczyk. “His band was the bomb!”
