Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements
Fab indie-pop singer-songwriter Freedy Johnston will be making a tour stop at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs at 7pm on Sunday, February 23. Tickets are $18 in advance. Also upcoming at the Caffe are Garnet Rogers with Sally Barris at 8pm on Friday, February 28 ($20 in advance); the Steel Wheels at 7pm on Tuesday, March 7 ($22 in advance); and the all-star trio Brother Sun at 7pm on Sunday, March 30 ($18 in advance).
The great bassist-composer Dave Holland will join the Empire Jazz Orchestra as the special guest soloist at their annual Jazz Masters Concert at the Schenectady County Community College’s Carl B. Taylor Auditorium at 8pm on Tuesday, April 8. All tickets are general admission – $20; $6 students.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle team up for “Songs and Stories, Together Onstage,” a special tandem concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has racked up a number of new concerts, including T. Mills’ All I Want to Do Tour with Mod Sun at 8pm on Friday, March 28 ($9.63 for the first 96 tickets; $12.50 in advance thereafter); Sublime tribute band Badfish with Conehead Buddha and Another All-Nighter at 8pm on Saturday, April 26 ($15 in advance; on sale at 10am Friday); All Time Low with Man Overboard and Handguns at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 29 ($22.50 in advance; on sale at 10am Friday).
The Grammy Award-winning Old Crow Medicine Show land at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm on Wednesday, March 5. Priced at $35 & $45, tickets go on sale on Friday (January 24). Also on sale on Friday are tickets for Pink Floyd tribute band the Machine at the Calvin at 8pm on Saturday, April 5. Prices are $25 & $35.
Club Helsinki in Hudson kicks off the spring Helsinki on Broadway season with a cabaret performance by Tony Award-winning singer-actress Judy Kaye at 8pm on Saturday, March 22. Tickets are $50. Also new on Club Helsinki’s calendar is Mike Doughty, who drops in at 9pm on Saturday, March 8. Tickets are $22 in advance; $25 at the door.
UPDATE: As we noted previously, pop singer-songwriter and Tony Award-winner Duncan Sheik will play the headline event of this summer’s SaratogaArtsFest at Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center in Saratoga Springs on Friday, June 13. Tickets are now on sale for the concert, priced at $50 or $25 for ArtsPass holders.
Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs has added a batch of new shows to its concert calendar, including Particle with John Wayne & the Pain at 9pm on Wednesday, February 5 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door); Melvin Seals & JGB at 9pm on Sunday, March 2 ($20); and the double-bill of Turkuaz and the Alan Evans Trio at 9:30pm on Thursday, March 27 ($8 in advance; $12 at the door).
Vapor in Saratoga Springs will welcome R&B singer-songwriter Sevyn Streeter with DeeJay Element at 9pm on Friday, February 14. Tickets are $5. Country singer Tyler Farr is headed into SPAC this summer with Jason Aldean, but if you can’t wait til then, Farr will take the stage at Vapor as a headliner at 9pm on Thursday, March 27. Tickets are $20.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Garage in Pittsfield has announced a handful of upcoming winter concerts, including Darlingside, the Rev Tor Band and comedy from the Royal Berkshire Improv Troupe.
RE-SCHEDULED: The Rosanne Cash concert originally slated for the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in December has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, March 5.
SOLD OUT: And it’s nearly six months away, but the Bastille show on Monday, June 2 at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park sold out on the first day of sales last weekend.
