MUSIC: “Dynamic RAM & Concert Grand” @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Electronic music composer-computer musician Neil Rolnick performs three of his major works for computer and piano, each with a different pianist – Bob Gluck, Kathleen Supove and the Bang On a Can All-Stars’ Vicky Chow. 7:30pm. THEATER: “Sister Act” @ Proctors, Schenectady. It’s opening night! After witnessing a murder, a disco diva is hidden away in a convent for her own protection. Hijinx ensue, and soon she’s a nun on the run. The 2011 Tony-nominated musical is based on the 1992 film. 7:30pm. $20-$75. Through Sunday.

MUSIC: Brian Patneaude Quartet @ Schenectady County Community College’s Carl B. Taylor Auditorium, Schenectady. The saxman is poined by pianist Dave Payette, bassist Mike DelPrete and drummer Danny Whelchel for a program of original compositions and arrangements of music by Pat Metheny and Chick Corea. 7:30pm. READING: James D. Redwood @ UAlbany Science Library’s Standish Room, Albany. The Albany Law School professor reads from his first collection of short stories, “Love Beneath the Napalm.” 4:15pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Berkshire Symphony Student Soloist Competition @ Williams College’s Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, Williamstown. Hosted by guest conductor Andrew Massey, the program includes music from all periods and genres, from classical standards to cutting edge premieres. 6pm. FREE.
