Parade o’ Shoes: Dust Bowl Faeries

Of course, they’ve got snazzy footwear. But the Dust Bowl Faeries also sport some fascinating headgear, smart, captivating tunes and a taxidermy ram named Hazel. The trio of Ryder Cooley, Karen Cole and Sara Ayers made their public debut at Rest Fest in September. Since then, they’ve captivated crowds from North Adams to Brooklyn, and Tommy Stinson (of Guns ‘N Roses and the Replacements) sat in with them last week at Club Helsinki in Hudson.
Now they’re gearing up for their Albany concert debut at Steamer No. 10 Theatre at 8pm on Saturday (March 1), sharing the bill with the equally elusive Swamp Baby. Tickets are $13 in advance; $15 at the door.
Tommy Stinson sitting in with the band? I’d call that one for the bucket list.
Also, this is an inspiration to step up our footwear game – though from what I hear about the video shoot which went down yesterday, people will not be looking at our shoes all that much.
Come on out, folks, this is going to be a memorable evening of theatre and music in Albany!
wish i could–will be in nyc for don’s memorial services.
We’ll have to dedicate a song to him, Val.
