3/9/14: Today’s Tips: Sunday

SPOKEN WORD/MUSIC: David Greenberger: Theater of One @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. In conjunction with the “One Upon” exhibition, the Tang’s mezzanine is transformed into an intimate theater space where one audience member at a time will listen to a two-minute performance by David Greenberger and his band A Strong Dog. 2-5pm.

COMEDY: Don White @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. 7pm. $18.

MUSIC: Schenectady Symphony Orchestra @ Proctors, Schenectady. Beloved Fables – works by Kurt Weill, Darius Milhaud, Camille Saint-Saens and Gunther Schuller. 3pm.

DANCE: “Cinderella” @ The Egg, Albany. New York Theatre Ballet’s story of Cinderella is told through dance with colorful costumes – complete with wicked step-sisters, the fairy godmother, magic slippers and a most charming prince. 3pm. $18; adults admitted free when accompanied by a child (one adult per child please).

MUSIC: Bernstein Bard Quartet @ the Falcon, Marlboro. An acoustic music fixture in the Hudson Valley over the last 12 years, BB4 features brothers Mark Bernstein (guitar, vocals) and Steve Bernstein (mandolin, vocals) with Robert Bardon (bass, vocals) and Brian Melick (percussion). 10am. Donations encouraged.

MUSIC: The Megan Houde Duo @ NaNola, Malta. 12noon.

MUSIC: Steve Lambert Quintet @ the Wishing Well, Wilton. 4pm concert followed by 6pm open jam. $15; $5 students.

MUSIC: University-Community Symphony Orchestra @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center’s Main Theater, Albany. Christopher Neubert conducts the orchestra of students, faculty and community musicians. 3pm. $6; $3 students & seniors.

MUSIC: Shannon McNally @ the Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton. Earthy, bluesy roots-music singer. With Valentina Duracinsky. 7pm. $15.

MUSIC: Meg Hutchinson @ the Falcon, Marlboro. The award-winning, lyric-based singer-songwriter makes a tour stop in support of her new album, Beyond That, produced by Crit Harmon. 7pm. Donations encouraged.

MUSIC: The Sweetback Sisters @ the Parlor Room, Northampton. OK, Emily Miller and Zara Bode aren’t really sisters, but they are undeniably bound togther in hevaenly honky-tonk harmonies. 7pm. $15.

MUSIC: The Paul Green Rock Academy Show Band @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Based in nearby Saugerties, the Paul Green Rock Academy’s young musicians perform classic works by the Police, Frank Zappa, Radiohead, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and others. 6pm. $12.

THEATER: “Reefer Madness: The Musical” @ Steamer No. 10 Theatre, Albany. Yes, that’s right… the musical. 3pm. $15.
