LIVE: Ed Kowalczyk @ The Egg, 3/20/14

The former lead singer and main songwriter for the ’90s rockers Live, Ed Kowlaczyk rolled into The Egg’s Swyer Theatre in Albany recently, his first Nippertown concert since his 2011 Alive at Five performance. Back then, he had a full band backing him up, but this time around, it was a considerably more intimate, but no less intense, experience.
He’s calling his current outing the I Alone Acoustic Tour, and it was indeed stripped down, but in fact, it wasn’t a solo affair. He was joined by guitarist Zak Loy of the band Alpha Rev, who helped fire up all of those anthemic Live classics, as well as selections from Kowalczyk’s solo catalog.

As a fan of LiVE since Throwing Copper days and a continued supporter of all the LiVE band members on their own projects, I think Zak Loy is a great addition to Ed Kowalczyk’s band as well as Alpha Rev. Zak plays guitar with skill, he has a true talent that’s hard to match. Zak is magically to watch play and I find myself wanting more. ELECTRIC!!!
It would of been nice to see Zak in the photos.
