MUSIC: Hard Soul @ the Low Beat, Albany. Guitarist-vocalist Johnny Salka leads the Local 518 rockers into the Low Beat to celebrate the release their debut full-length album, Heart of Plaster. MUSIC: The Budos Band @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The Staten Island-based retro-funk outfit lays down its classic, horn-inflected grooves all night long in Hudson. 9pm.

MUSIC: Persiflage @ Proctors, Schenectady. The quintet is led by Party Horns NYC curator, saxman and Schenectady native Matt Steckler, who describes the band as a “Brooklyn-based modular ensemble that expresses itself collectively, listens to one another intently and never takes life too seriously.” 7:30pm. $15.

THEATER: “If All the Sky Were Paper” @ the Janet Kinghorn Bernhard Theater at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs. Lary Opitz directs Best-selling author Andrew Carroll’s play about war from the viewpoint of the men and women on the front lines, affected civilians and loved ones on the home front – told through their own letters. 8pm. $12 general admission; $8 students & seniors. MUSIC: Martha Redbone Roots Project @ Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Great Barrington. Martha Redbone’s music flows from her award-winning blend of Native American elements with soul and funk and her deep roots in Appalachian folk and Piedmont blues. As part of this school-time program, Martha Redbone will include a cultural talk incorporating her Native American, African-American and Appalachian roots. 10am. $10.
