Radio has been making the leap from the airwaves to the stage in recent years, and folks who love to watch live radio – rather than just listen to it – have a wealth of options during the summer performance season. Here are a few live radio presentations that fans might want to check out:

SATURDAY (MAY 10), 7pm
“Hudson Air: Static Cling”
Hudson Opera House, Hudson
$15; $10 students
Original comedies by Andrew Joffe, Byron Nilsson, Lora Lee Ecobelli, Sandy McKnight and a radio adaptation of a Christopher Durang play. Directed by Andrew Joffe with live sound effects by foley artist Bob Hanley and music by renowned pianist Lincoln Mayorga.

SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 5:45pm
“A Prairie Home Companion”
Tanglewood, Lenox
$24-$74
Garrison Keillor leads his merry band of Lake Wobegon residents back to the Koussevitzky Music Shed for their annual trek to Tanglewood. Musical guests TBA.

FRIDAY, JULY 11, 8pm
“Hudson Air: Criminal in Tent”
PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century, Chatham
$18; $10 youth age 18 and under
Directed by Andrew Joffe, the live radio theater presentation will feature actors Nancy Rothman, Lora Lee Ecobelli, Byron Nilsson and James Occhino, as well as foley artist Bob Hanley and musician Lincoln Mayorga.

SATURDAY, JULY 19, 8pm
“Selected Shorts”
The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Great Barrington
$35 & $50 (on sale at 12noon on Saturday, May 10)
Stage and screen stars Kate Burton, Jane Curtin and Parker Posey perform great short stories at this taping for the hit public radio series.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 28, 8pm
“Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me!”
Tanglewood, Lenox

NPR’s oddly informative weekly hour-long news quiz program is again live at Tanglewood, offering a fast-paced, irreverent look at the week’s news, hosted by Peter Sagal along with judge and score-keeper Carl Kassell.
