Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements

WEQX-FM has announced another free concert for Vapor Nightclub in Saratoga Springs. Award winning British rockers Kaiser Chiefs will make a tour stop at Vapor on Sunday, June 22, in support of their new album, Education, Education, Education & War. Local 518 fave Stellar Young are slated to open the show at 7:30pm.

Club Helsinki in Hudson is welcoming the return of the soul group the Revelations with Simi Stone at 9pm on Friday, June 27 ($15). Also on tap are Donna the Buffalo at 9pm on Saturday, August 2 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door), and acclaimed New Orleans brass band the Soul Rebels fire up their second line struttin’ sound at 9pm on Saturday, August 16 ($22 in advance; $25 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Yes, this was undoubtedly the biggest week ever for tribute band fans, as more than a dozen new tribute band concerts were announced for Proctors, the Palace Theatre, the River Street Festival and, of course, for the free Rockin’ On the River concert series in Troy, which features upcoming performances by Start Making Sense, Fleetwood Macked, Who’s Bad, Blues for Breakfast, Zoso, Almost Queen, Aquanett, Adrenalized and more…

As part of their week-long Three of a Perfect Pair Music Camp at Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin & Pat Mastelotto will be returning to return to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock for a concert at 9pm on Friday, August 15. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door.

The musical guests have been announced for the live broadcast performance of “A Prairie Home Companion” at Tanglewood in Lenox at 5:45pm on Saturday, June 28. Host Garrison Keillor and the rest of the cast will be joined by special guests Keb’ Mo’, the Wailin’ Jennys, the DiGiallonardo Sisters and Rob Fisher.

There will be three stages of entertainment, and the day-long festivities will be headlined by the Grass Roots, or at least a band that calls themselves the Grass Roots. Basilica Hudson is kicking off its summer concert season with a triple-bill at 8pm on Wednesday, June 4, featuring Baltimore experimental rockers Horse Lords, Berlin-based electronic artist Lucretia Dalt and local faves Palm. Admission is $8 at the door.

The fourth annual Aaron Lewis & Friends benefit concert will be held at Look Park’s Pines Theater in Florence, Mass. at 5:30pm on Friday, June 27. A fundraiser for the It Takes a Community Foundation, the concert will feature a rare acoustic performance by Staind, as well as Brent Smith & Zach Myers from the band Shinedown. Tickets range from $59-$79.

The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has added a handful of new shows to its concert calendar, including world-beat rockers Rusted Root at 8pm on Saturday, June 28 ($18 in advance; $20 at the door); hard rockers Black Stone Cherry, who bring along We As Human and Kyng for their concert at 8pm on Friday, August ($10.35 for the first 103 tickets; $13 thereafter; $15 at the door); and southern rockers Blackberry Smoke at 8pm on Thursday, August 14 ($17.50 in advance; $20 at the door). Tickets for all three newly announced shows are slated to go on sale at 10am on Friday (May 23).

In Woodstock, the Colony Cafe is hosting the very tasty double bill of Elysian Fields and Ben Perowsky’s Mood Swing Orchestra featuring TK Wonder at 9pm on Friday, May 30.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Want more tribute bands? Who’s Bad wasn’t enough for you? Well, Albany’s Palace Theatre announced that it will play host to “Thank You, Michael: The Michael Jackson Experience.”

A couple of additional new shows have been announced for Proctors in Schenectady, including Michael Benedict & Bopitude with special guest alto saxophonist Sharel Cassity at 7:30pm on Friday, July 25 ($25) and comedian Earl David Reed with his The Secret of My Unsuccess Tour at 8pm on Saturday, September 20 ($20).

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The concert by Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, originally slated for The Egg in Albany on Tuesday, October 7 has been postponed a week to Tuesday, October 14.
