Mandolinist-composer Chris Thile (of the Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek) and bassist-composer Edgar Meyer team up again! These two MacArthur Fellows will cross traditional boundaries in a diverse program of largely original music. The duo has collaborated on several critically acclaimed projects including their 2006 duo album for Nonesuch Records, the Grammy-winning Goat Rodeo Sessions and, most recently, Thile’s 2013 solo recording, Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 1, produced by Meyer. The duo’s next recording of new original material will be released this year on Nonesuch Records.

Friday, October 24, 8pm
$15, $25, $34 & $42
15-time Grammy Award-winner Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn (formerly of Uncle Earl) are not only both stellar multi-cultural banjo players, but they’re also husband and wife. Together they’ve mastered the deceptively intricate art of the banjo duet. Their performances embrace a diversity almost unthinkable – coming from just two banjos and one voice. Washburn’s beguiling composing, playing and singing blend with Fleck’s riveting and virtuosic musicianship to create music both unique yet familiar in texture.
