OPERA: “Ariadne in Naxos” @ Glimmerglass Opera, Cooperstown. Richard Strauss’ opera-within-an-opera features both lighthearted comedy and heroic grand opera, as two different performing troupes compete for the attention of a wealthy patron. THEATER: “Tomorrow in the Battle” @ Stageworks/Hudson, Hudson. The drama by British playwright Kieron Barry had
its world premiere here in August, 2012 and was a smash hit. Now it’s back for a return engagement. 7:30pm. $24. Through August 31.
