Congrats to Eastbound Jesus
Local 518 faves Eastbound Jesus have been selected as one of the five finalists competing for the FreshGrass Award, which will be handed out during the FreshGrass festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams from September 19-21.
The rip-snortin’ Greenwich-based bluegrass-rock-country band will be competing against Many Nights Ahead (Harrisonburg, Virginia), the Sons of Bluegrass (Johnson City, Tennessee), Twisted Pine (Boston, Massachusetts) and Circa Blue (Martinsburg, West Virginia).
Each finalist will perform a traditional tune and an original composition. The winners – selected on the basis of compositional originality, instrumental and vocal skills, and stage presence – will take home an array of prizes, including the opportunity to perform at next year’s FreshGrass festival, recording sessions at Compass Records in Nashville, and hand crafted instruments. The judges for the competition are Chris Pandolfi (of the Infamous Stringdusters), Leigh and Eric Gibson (of the Gibson Brothers) and banjo pioneer Alison Brown.
