THEATER: “Other Desert Cities” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. It’s opening night! Pultizer Prize-winning playwright Jon Robin Baitz’s comedy/drama about prodigal daughter Brooke Wyeth, who returns to her Palm Springs Desert home to celebrate the holidays after six years away and announces plans to publish her childhood memoir – complete with revelations of deep family secrets. Directed by Michael Bush. 7:30pm. Through Sunday, October 19.

FILM: “The Zero Theorem” @ Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. One screening only of Terry Gilliam’s madcap science fiction epic which stars two-time Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz as Qohen Leth, an eccentric and reclusive computer genius plagued with existential angst. With Matt Damon, Mélanie Thierry, Lucas Hedges, David Thewlis and Tilda Swinton. 7pm. $8.25; $8 seniors; $7.50 children.

PARTICIPATORY MUSIC: Left of the Dial @ the Low Beat, Albany. It’s Punk Rock Karaoke time! Grab the mic and sing your fave rock song in front of a live band. 7pm.
