An outgrowth of the SongwritingWith:Soldiers program, which uses the power of collaborative songwriting with armed forces veterans to transform pain and isolation into hope and the ability to move forward, an award-winning bunch of singer-songwriters took to the stage of WAMC-FM’s The Linda recently for a free concert.
Veteran Texas tunesmith Darden Smith, acclaimed folk troubadour Mary Gauthier and number one hit songwriter and two-time Grammy Award-winning producer Gary Nicholson impressed the crowd with their deeply emotional songs. And they were joined by Local 518’s own Americana faves the North & South Dakotas.
I wish I had been in town. My understanding is that John Rice (Red Haired Strangers / Hilltown Studios) is working on the recordings from that project.
