MUSIC: The Elvis Birthday Bash @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Mark Gamsjager leads the Lustre Kings and an array of special guests through the Elvis Presley songbook in honor of what would have been the King’s 80th birthday. 9pm. $15.

MUSIC: Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Joined by special guest fiddler-vocalist Sara Milonovich, the Railroad Boys whip up a rousing evening of wry, witty songs bolstered by some fine bluegrass pickin’ and singin’. 8pm. $18.

MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Winter Warm-up/Shake-up @ The Linda, Albany. Three Local 518 bands join forces in a triple-header to benefit The Linda – Sandy McKnight & the Ideas, the Lazy Suns and SubSlab. 8pm. $10.

MUSIC: I/0 Festival of New Music @ Williams College ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance’s CenterStage, Williamstown. The Steven Dennis Bodner Memorial Concert (in remembrance of the late co-founder of the festival) features Philip Glass’ classic “Music in Similar Motion” and new works by student composers and Williams graduates performed by student ensembles and Williams faculty. 8pm. MUSIC: Dave Porter @ Carney’s Tavern, Ballston Lake. The former frontman for Syracuse prog-rock faves 805 serves up a solo show. 8:30pm.

FILM: “The Throwaways” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Directed by Bhawin Suchak and Ira McKinley, the film tells the story of homeless filmmaker and ex-felon, Ira McKinley, documenting his struggle to bring positive changes to his community in inner-city Albany. 7pm. $10; $7 students.

FILM: “Antarctica – A Year on Ice” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Think it’s been cold out there this week? Check out the epic battles against hellacious storms, quiet reveries of nature’s grandeur, and everyday moments of work and laughter in Anarctica, the last pristine wilderness on the planet. 5pm. $8; $6 students.

FILM: “Concrete Night” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Pirjo Honkasalo’s dream-like odyssey through the beautiful city of Helsinki over the course of one night, focused on the 14-year-old boy Simo, who is searching for a sense of self and the ability to protect himself from his surroundings. 3:15pm. $8; $6 students.

FILM: “Happy Valley” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Amir Bar-Lev’s documentary takes an unflinching look at an iconic American institution in the wake of unthinkable scandal. For over 40 years, Joe Paterno was the revered and celebrated head coach of Penn State’s storied football team. Then in November 2011, everything changed when assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with child sex abuse. 3pm. $8; $6 students.
