MUSIC: Perfume Genius @ BSP Lounge, Kingston. Over the course of two albums, Perfume Genius, aka Seattle native Mike Hadreas, cemented his place as a singer-songwriter of rare frankness, creating songs that, while achingly emotional, offered empathy and hope, rather than judgment. Sparse, gorgeous and with Hadreas’ quavering vocals often only accompanied by piano, they were uncommonly beautiful tales of a life lived on the dark side – scarred, brutalised, yet ultimately, slowly but surely reclaimed. TALK: Bill Nye the Science Guy @ UAlbany’s SEFCU Arena, Albany. The celebrated public television personality – whose television series ran on PBS-TV from 1993-98 – is a pioneer in the field of science education and a leading defender of science in the public arena. He is a seven-time Emmy Award-winner and the author of “Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation.” 5pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Schenectady County Community College Jazz Showcase @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. Featuring SCCC Jazz Combos directed by Brian Patneaude and SCCC Jazz Ensemble directed by Dr. William Meckley. 7pm. FREE.

DISCUSSION/EVENT: Tang Museum Dialogue and Krushenick Art Party @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. Skidmore assistant professor of art Fabian Lopez will be joined by guest painters in a discussion of the legacy of Nicholas Krushenick in conjunction withe current exhibit, “Nicholas Krushenick: Electric Soup.” 6:30pm.
