FREE: Bands Announced for Capital Pride Fest

The Pride Center of the Capital Region has announced the entertainment for the annual Capital Pride Parade and Festival, which is scheduled to return to Albany’s Washington Park on the afternoon of Saturday, June 13.

Headlining this year’s festival will be dance/pop singer Andy Bell of Erasure. He sold more than 25 million albums as the frontman for the British synthpop group Erasure, who enjoyed immense success in the United Kingdom and produced three Top 20 U.S. hits – “A Little Respect,” “Chains of Love” and “Always.” Bell embarked on a solo career in 2005 with the albums Electric Blue, followed by his sophomore album Non-Stop in 2010.

Opening for Andy Bell is Atlantic Records 2014 breakout pop phenomenon Katy Tiz, who is best known for her breakout Top 40 hit, “The Big Bang.” Her new single “Whistle (While You Work It),” is quickly ascending the pop-charts worldwide.

Rounding out the afternoon entertainment line-up will be the nine-piece Local 518 party band the Accents, an appearance by transgender rights activist-author-actress-musician Calpernia Addams, Albany’s DJ Dave Barna and our annual drag revue. The Pride Festival will be emceed and co-hosted by FLY92 DJs Shawn Gillie and Wanda Hudson.
