Rockin’ On the River Announces Schedule of Bands

The free Rockin’ on the River concert series returns to Troy again this summer, and as usual the official line-up of shows is heavy on tribute bands. But we’re happy to report that there are also quite a few good Local 518 bands represented on the schedule.

Co-sponsored by the City of Troy and the Downtown Troy BID, the concerts will take place at either the Green Island Bridge Parking Lot or Riverfront Park (as listed below) at 5pm on Wednesday evenings from June 10-August 12. There is also a special Friday evening show on July 3 – Eastbound Jesus with the Hawbuckees – followed by a fireworks display.

WVCR-FM is also sponsoring a Play to Play Contest, in which bands are encouraged to send a CD featuring two songs suitable for airplay to: Vito Ciccarelli, WVCR-FM, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211, no later than Friday, May 29. The winning band will open the show for the final concert of the season, Led Zeppelin tribute band Zoso.

Saw Almost Queen last year. They are a cover band for the ages. The Freddie character shows so much passion for the music of Queen, it’s impossible not to watch.
