COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements
Yes, Solid Sound is over for another year, but MASS MoCA has beefed up its concert calendar with a new addition – a solo performance by Ted Leo at 8pm on Friday, August 21. Leo, of course, is the bandleader of Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, as well as one half of the Both, also featuring Aimee Mann. His solo concert will be held outdoors at the Courtyard Cafe, weather permitting, or indoors at Club B-10. Tickets are $14 in advance; $20 at the door; $26 preferred.
Vapor in Saratoga Springs is hosting the second annual Here’s to the Heroes benefit as a fundraiser for Operation Adopt a Soldier on Thursday, August 20. Doors open at 7pm for the event, which will by headlined by Nashville country music singer James Otto. Josh Dorr and Mo Pitney will also perform. Tickets are on sale now priced at $10.
In support of their new album Human, Canadian rockers Three Days Grace have added a date at Upstate Concert Hall to their current tour. The band will land in the Clifton Park spotlight on Tuesday, September 22 with special guests Pop Evil opening the show. Tickets are $30.50 in advance; $32 at the door. And in a rather strange coincidence, Adam Gontier (formerly of Three Days Grace) will lead Saint Asonia into UCH at 8pm on Saturday, August 29. Also featuring Mike Mushok (of Staind), Corey Lowery (Stuck Mojo) and Rich Beddoe (Finger Eleven), the band is embarking on their maiden tour in support of their self-titled debut album, which is slated for release on July 31. Tickets are priced at $20 in advance; $23 at the door. Tickets for both newly announced shows will go on sale at 10am on Friday (July 10).
Laetitia Sadier (of Stereolab) is scheduled to make a tour stop at BSP Kingston in Kingston on Sunday, October 4. Deradoorian opens the show at 7:30pm. Priced at $12 in advance; $15 at the door, tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (July 10). Also at BSP, R. Ring (featuring the Breeders’ Kelley Deal) plays a free show with Pecas at 8:30pm on Thursday, July 30.
In support of his latest album, Stellar Motel, former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty is returning to Nippertown for a fundraising concert at Unity Hall in Fort Plain at 6pm on Saturday (July 11). Opening the show, which is a benefit for the Mohawk Valley Collective, is Ross Cashiola of the Marfa, Texas-based band Hotel Brotherhood. Tickets are $7.50 in advance; $10 at the door. The Trojan troubadour Sean Rowe plays a hometown gig at the Ale House in Troy on Saturday, August 15. Tickets are $15.
World-beatsters Rusted Root return to King Neptune’s Pub in Lake George on Thursday (July 9). Stellar Young opens the show at 7pm. Tickets are $15 at the door.
Darol Anger’s Mr. Sun with special guest banjoman extraordinaire Tony Trischka are scheduled to fire up some adventurous bluegrass at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Thursday, November 19. ($TBA).
OPENERS: Lara Hope & the Ark-Tones have been added as the opening act for honky-tinker Dale Watson at The Linda in Albany on Monday (July 13)… British rockers Lawson, who recently a Top 10 hit in England with their latest single, “Roads,” have been announced as the opening act for Sheppard at Albany’s Hollow Bar + Kitchen on Saturday, July 25.
