COMIN’ SOON: This Week’s New Concert Announcements

Craig Finn – frontman for the Hold Steady – has announced that his sophomore solo album, Faith in the Future, is slated for release on September 11. And in support of the album, Finn will be hitting the road and opening his tour with stops at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 8pm on Wednesday, October 14 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door; on sale on Friday, July 31) and the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany on Friday, October 16 ($TBA).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Hootie & the Blowfish frontman-turned-hit country singer Darius Rucker is slated to return to Albany’s Times Union Center.

Lawn tickets are now on sale for $13.75 for tonight’s (Wednesday, July 29) formerly “amphitheater-only” concert by Tedeschi Trucks Band with Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Doyle Bramhall II at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs. Amphitheater tickets are priced at $25, $39.50, $69.50 & $79.50.

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The Alive at Five concert with country singer RaeLynn and Big Sky Country at 5pm on Thursday (july 30) has been moved from Jennings Landing to the rain site at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch Parking Lot under the I-787 overpass due to the threat of inclement weather.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Former Genesis guitar master Steve Hackett and his band are returning once again to The Egg in Albany. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Thursday (July 30).

Clifton Park’s Upstate Concert Hall has bolstered its calendar with some new additions, including the Wood Brothers, who are slated to take the stage at 8pm on Saturday, October 3. Tickets are $20 in advance; $23 at the door. Also upcoming at UCH are Lil Durk with Gun Play and Hypno Carlito at 8pm on Sunday, August 30 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door); the return of the ever brutal Skinless with All Out War, Assault On the Living and Tyranize at 7pm on Saturday, September 26 ($20 in advance; $22 at the door); Clutch with Corrosion of Conformity and the Shrine at 8pm on Saturday, October 10 ($25 in advance; $28 at the door); Jersey faves the Bouncing Souls with Left Over Crack, Beach Slang and All Torn Up at 7:30pm on Friday, October 16 ($20 in advance; $22 at the door); the twisted duo Twiztid with Blaze, Boondox, Prozak, Wolfpac, Scum and K.Daver at 8pm on Monday, October 19 ($22 in advance; $24 at the door); and Mat Kearney’s Just Kids Tour with Parachute at 8pm Thursday, October 22 ($20 in advance; $23 at the door). Tickets for the new concerts go on sale at 10am on Friday (July 31), except for the Wood Brothers, whose tickets are already on sale.

Club Helsinki in Hudson has announced a handful of new shows including Don Byron & Friends – featuring Zachary Alford, Pete Levin, Matt Finck, Dean Bowman and Scott Petito – playing the music of Junior Walker at 8pm on Thursday, August 6 ($18 in advance; $20 at the door); Slam Allen at 9pm on Friday, August 28 ($18 in advance; $20 at the door); Vieux Farka Touré & Julia Easterlin present Touristes at 8pm on Thursday, September 17 ($22 & $28); and last, but certainly not least, Nick Lowe at 8pm on Wednesday, October 7 ($TBA).

Americana singer-songwriter and three-time Grammy Award-winner Lucinda Williams makes her Great Barrington debut at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center at 8pm on Saturday, October 10. Priced at $35, $60 & $80, tickets go on sale to Mahaiwe members at 12noon on Thursday (July 30) and to the general public at 12noon on Tuesday (August 4).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Collective Soul is slated to take the stage of The Egg’s Hart Theatre in Albany in support of their upcoming album, See What You Started by Continuing. Tickets go on sale on Friday (July 31).

“Saturday Night Live” alum (1996-2002) Ana Gasteyer is scheduled to slip into the Williamstown Theatre Festival’s Main Stage for “Swing With a Handsome Woman,” a one-night-only evening of saucy stand-up comedy and sultry jazz standards at 7:30pm on Monday, August 10. Tickets are $46 & $65: VIP $100, including a post-performance after-party.

Singer-songwriter-violinist Tracy Bonham & Friends are throwing a CD release party for Bonham’s new album, Wax & Gold, at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Saturday, August 29. Tickets are $15. Also new on Bearsville’s schedule is a reunion concert by From Good Homes at 9pm on Friday, September 4. Priced at $27, tickets go on sale on Friday (July 31).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: EMPAC at RPI in Troy has announced its fall 2015 schedule of upcoming performances, including concerts by Mark Fell, Tim Hecker, France Jobin, Mary Halvorson, Colin Marston, Holly Herndon and more…

Josh Ritter’s new album, Sermon On the Rocks, which he describes as “messianic oracular honky-tonk,” is slated for release on October 16. And in support of the album he’ll be joined by his longtime backing band, the Royal City Band, for a tour that includes a stop at the Academy of Music in Northampton on October 21. Tickets go on sale on Friday (July 31).

Melvin Seals & JGB return to Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs for a two-night stand at 9pm on Saturday & Sunday, October 17 & 18. Tickets are $25 per night or $40 for a combo ticket for both nights. VIP tickets are $70 (ticket, meet & greet, photo with band, signed tour poster), while the $200 Rock Star Package includes tickets to both shows, meet & greet, signed tour poster and Sunday brunch with Seals.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A tribute to the classic music of Motown, “Dancing in the Streets,” is making a one-night-only tour stop at Albany’s Palace Theatre. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (July 31).

The Calvin Theatre in Northampton welcomes Guster at 8pm on Friday, November 6. Tickets are $30 and go on sale to the general public on Friday (July 31). Also newly announced at the Calvin is comedian Bo Burnham, who grabs the spotlight at 8pm on Sunday, November 15. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $38.

SOLD OUT: The upcoming concert by Joe Jackson slated for The Egg in Albany at 8pm on Monday. Oct 26 is now officially sold out.
