During its first summer of business Wood Park in Lake George has pretty busy, and last weekend it was the site of the inaugural, two-day Lake George Blues & Roots Music Festival, sponsored by the Lake George Arts Project. which also produces the free Wednesday concert series in Lake George’s Shepard Park.

The fest kicked off last Saturday (August 1) with a stellar line-up of blues and roots band including George Fletcher’s Foldin’ Money, Mark Tolstrup’s new trio Brass & Blues, Soul Sky and the Matt Mirabile/Jill Hughes Project (a relatively new collaboration between the blues guitarslinger and the veteran jazz/soul singer).

Capping off the festivities was Williamstown’s own blues guitar master Albert Cummings, who unleashed some fab fretboard fireworks in celebration of the recent release of his new album Someone Like You on the Blind Pig record label.
