LIVE: Bahamas @ The Linda, 7/25/15

Afie Jurvanen isn’t from the Bahamas. He’s a Finnish-Canadian from Barrie – a working class town in rural Ontario.
But his chosen epithet is fitting. Since 2009, he’s been making music under the name Bahamas – writing songs about sunsets, love affairs and making out with crooked smiles. Through simple arrangements, he charts an escape route from the snow belt to the coral reefs.
Maybe you caught his Nippertown debut – a stellar Farm Aid-at-SPAC performance a couple of years ago. Or maybe you saw him last December, opening for Lucius at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen.
Last month Jurvanen and his band finally played their Local 518 headlining debut at WAMC-FM’s The Linda, and it was indeed a sweet evening, made even sweeter with the hometown duo of the Sea the Sea opening the show with their rich harmonies.
