BOOK EVENT: “Programming EMPAC: The First 4,158 Days” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. A celebration of the publication of the whopping 688-page tome chronicling all the events, projects and works developed and presented at the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The book launch will feature drinks, snacks and copies of the book to browse and purchase. RPI President Shirley Ann Jackson and EMPAC Director Johannes Goebel will also speak about EMPAC’s founding and future visions. 6pm. FREE. Arrive between 5:30-6pm for a complimentary copy of the book.
FILM: “Tron” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. In Steven Lisberger’s 1982 cult-classic sci-fi film, a computer programmer (Jeff Bridges) is transported into a mainframe computer where he must survive gladiator-like video games in order to defeat the tyrannical Master Control Program. Projected on a 60-foot screen and presented in full stereo sound. 7pm. FREE.
