Cohoes Music Hall Re-Opens with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer
She dated Elvis Presley and duetted with Elvis Costello, which pretty much spans the entire history of rock ‘n’ roll. And Wanda Jackson made plenty of that history on her own.
She was one of the very first female vocalists to sing rock ‘n’ roll. She crafted an impressive resume as a rockabilly singer, later venturing into country and gospel. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
More recently, producers like Jack White and Justin Townes Earle have crafted her albums featuring her covers of songs by Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Amy Winehouse, Jeff Tweedy, Rosie Fores, Buck Owens, Townes Van Zandt and other greats.
And now Wanda Jackson is headed into Greater Nippertown at 8pm on Saturday, December 5 for a concert with the Lustre Kings at the vacant The Cohoes Music Hall, formerly the home of musical theater company, C-R Productions. Tickets are $20.
