1. THE FIRST ALBUM I EVER BOUGHT WAS … the first Beatles album.

2. THE FIRST CONCERT THAT I EVER SAW WAS … Lou Christie. He was excellent.

3. THE FIRST MUSICAL INSTRUMENT I EVER OWNED OR PLAYED WAS … my big brother’s Kay guitar.

4. THE FIRST SONG THAT I EVER PERFORMED IN PUBLIC WAS … some three-part singing with my brothers. It was in a train station. It sounded good to me.

5. THE FIRST BAND I WAS EVER IN WAS … called Southpaw. Bob Beland and I were both lefty guitar players.

Jules Shear joins Reelin’ in the Years as they rev up the music of Steely Dan at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Saturday (September 26). The Woodstock-based all-star line-up also features Gail Ann Dorsey, Jerry Marotta, Rick Marotta, Scott Petito, Jonny Rosch, Peter Primamore, Jesse Gress, Matt Finck, Erik Lawrence, Chris Pasin and some very special guests.
