First Night Saratoga always offers plenty of diverse entertainment options all around town, but if you were fortunate enough to find your way to the rather unlikely performance venue of the NBT Bank on Broadway on New Year’s Eve, you were rewarded with a fine batch of tunes from the Red Haired Strangers.

“Americana” is a big, broad musical genre, but it’s about the only one that manages to round up all of the facets of the Strangers’ wide-ranging sound, as they shifted from blues to country, from bluegrass to roots-rock.

And with the long-awaited release of their new album, Doc Roots Elixir: Guaranteed to Satisfy, slated for just a few days into the new year, the gig turned into a dual celebration – not only ushering in 2016, but also serving as the band’s CD pre-release party.

UPCOMING: You can catch the Red Haired Strangers in action at 7pm on Saturday (January 23) at the Green Wolf Brewing Co. in Middleburgh. Admission is free.
