Masters of the Golden Age: Harvey Dunn and His Students @ Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge. An exhibition celebrating the art and legacy of American illustration master Harvey Dunn. A brilliant and prolific illustrator of America’s Golden Age, Dunn was a prodigy of legendary artist Howard Pyle, and an admired teacher in his own right. (Through March 13)

Love a Vet: Honoring Our Veterans @ Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge. An exhibition that honors the sacrifices of veterans, calling attention to the struggles that many face upon their re-entry into civilian life and featuring paintings, drawings and prints by Gail Anderson, Scott Bakal, Jim Bennet, Steve Brodner, Joe Ciardello, Dennis Dittrich, Jeff Fisher, Stephen Gardner, Bri Hermanson, Victor Juhasz, David Keefe, Tina LeMay, William Low, Angela Martin, Melanie Reim, Edel Rodriguez, Yuko Shimizu, Mike Wimmer and Jime Wimmer. Anne Lindberg: fold and unfold @ Art Omi, Ghent. Drawn graphite fields anchor room-sized installations created in fine chromatic thread to create a subtle, rhythmic, abstract and immersive optical and spatial phenomenon that shifts the physical and emotional geographies of both the space and viewer. (Through March 13)

Living Color @ The Arts Center of the Capital Region, Troy. A joint exhibit from painters Jenny Kemp and Richard Garrison that explores the common theme complex color use in their work. Also on display: Abandoned, an exhibition of Greg Cuda’s documentary photographs of abandoned buildings, ruins, and rust. (Through March 19)

Procrustes @ Collar Works, Troy. In Greek Mythology, the son of Poseidon, Procrustes, invited travelers to spend the night in his mountain stronghold, where he set to work on them with his smith’s hammer to stretch them to fit his iron bed. This legend has become the namesake and metaphor for mathematical applications in which geometric equations are used to make shapes fit a given proportion. In this exhibition, sculptor Victoria Palermo and painter Adam Daily aim to engage the viewer in the same way. (Through March 19)

A Midwinter Night’s Dream @ Good Purpose Gallery, Lee. A fine art photography exhibit featuring several of the Berkshires’ most sophisticated photographers, including works by John Clarke, Diane Firtell, John Townes, Michael McManmon, Karen Karlberg, Ben Wurmfeld, Rebecca Maaia, Susan Sabino and Denise Brazier Chandler. (Through March 22)

Winter in America @ The School, Kinderhook. A multimedia group exhibition with works by John Ahern, Ghada Amer, Shimon Attie, Radcliffe Bailey, Glenn Brown, Yoan Capote, Geoffrey Chadsey, Gehard Demetz, Eric Fischl, Vibha Galhotra, Leon Golub, Betty Goodwin, Barkley L. Hendricks, Todd Hebert, Eva Hesse, Magdelana Jetelova, Hayv Kahraman, Titus Kaphar, Tallur L.N., Annette Lemieux, Eric Mack, Kerry James Marshall, Enrique Martinez Celaya, Richard Mosse, Adi Nes, Jackie Nickerson, Toyin Ojih Odutola, Robert and Shana Parkeharrison, Beverly Pepper, Raymond Pettibon, Claudette Schreuders, Claude Simard, Michael Snow, Nancy Spero, Bob Thompson, Andy Warhol, Carrie Mae Weems and Hank Willis Thomas. Keltie Ferris: Body Prints and Paintings @ University Art Museum, Albany. This exhibition will pay special focus on the evolution of Keltie Ferris’s body prints from singular black and white impressions to multiple and increasingly colorful serial progressions. Also featured will be paintings from a cross-section of Ferris’s career including the debut of her largest painting to date. Ferris is best known for visceral and elegant abstract paintings built up in layers of spray gun washes, rubbed-out pastels, and palette knife zips. Artist’ reception: Friday, February 12, 5-7pm. Gerard & Kelly: Performance Documents @ University Art Museum, Albany. Collaborative artists Gerard & Kelly will present performance documentation that charts their prevailing concerns surrounding history, memory and the present tense of performance. Screened as a single-channel video projection, these “documents” underscore the artists’ inquiry into the relationships between performers and spectators, language and movement, intimacy and public space. Race, Love, and Labor @ University Art Museum, Albany. New Work from the Center for Photography at Woodstock’s Artist-in-Residency Program, featuring photography, artist books and video by twenty artists who probe the complexities of contemporary life through intimate revalations. The Capital Region in 50 Objects @ Albany Institute of History & Art, Albany. 50 objects to chosen represent the diverse history of The Capital Region over the past four hundred years. (Through April 3)

Norman Rockwell in the 1960s @ The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls. An exhibition that showcases 21 illustrations and original magazine covers created by the beloved artist during a decade of change and turmoil. (Through April 3)

An examination of the culture of the 1960’s, with 60 prints by 10 of the most significant photographers of that decade, including Harry Callahan, Benedict J. Fernandez, Hollis Frampton, Betty Hahn, Robert Heinecken, Mary Ellen Mark, Roger Mertin, Arnold Newman, Aaron Siskind and Garry Winogrand. (Through April 3)

Kate Teale: The Housed @ Opalka Gallery, Albany. Atmospheric paintings and large-scale drawings of waves, bedsheets and windows that float between figuration and abstraction. Opening reception: Friday, February 5, 6-8pm. (Through April 10)

Re-Reanimate, Repair, Mend and Meld @ Ferrin Contemporary, North Adams. This group exhibition examines the contemporary artistic interest in repaired ceramics, including works by Stephen Bowers, Bouke de Vries, Noelle Horsfield, Ruan Hoffman, Sergei Isupov, Adam Lefebvre, Frances Palmer, Paul Scott, Caroline Slotte, Mara Superior and Ai Weiwei. An Eye for Excellence @ The Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. As the Clark Art Institute celebrates its sixtieth year, this exhibition aims to demystify why and how the Clark collects works of art, as well as examine the growth of the museum’s collection over the past two decades. ArtZoo @ @ Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield. A menagerie of creatures portrayed in photography, painting, sculpture, ceramic, video and more, including a stunning 7-foot rhinoceros head, cast in bronze by award-winning French artist Quentin Garel, and vivid images of gorillas, giraffes and lions in the wild by award-winning wildlife photographers Sally Eagle and Dan Mead. (Through May 1)

Anne Diggory: On Location in Keene Valley and Lake George @ Kelly Adirondack Center, Niskayuna. Works by Saratoga Springs-based painter Anne Diggory, known for her combination of expressive painting, accurate detail and Strong abstract structure. Meet the artist: Saturday, April 2, 2-4-pm. Elevator Music 30: Critter & Guitari @ The Tang, Saratoga Springs. This installation in the Tang’s elevator will include a variety of small musical instruments by Critter & Guitari’s founders, Owen Osborn and Chris Kucinski, which visitors are invited to play. Also installed will be video synthesizers and monitors so that visitors will be able to see the sounds they make. (Through June 5)

Alma Thomas @ The Tang, Saratoga Springs. Vibrant, colorful paintings by Alma Woodsey Thomas, a black woman who grew up under the racial violence of Jim Crow, experiencing the Civil Rights Movement firsthand, and did not seriously pursue an artistic career until her retirement at age 69. (Through June 5)

Borrowed Light: Selections from the Jack Shear Collection @ The Tang, Saratoga Springs. An exhibition celebrating the major gift of over 500 photographs donated to the Tang by photographer, curator and collector Jack Shear and presenting a visual history of photography from its inception in the 1840s to the present day. (Through August 14)

African Art Against the State @ Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown. An exibition examining the history of activism, intervention and resistance that has characterized a great deal of African art-making from prehistory to the present, including works by Lalla Essaydi, David Goldblatt, Fathi Hassan, Fabrice Monteiro, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Zanele Muholi and Yinka Shonibare as well as sculptures by the Yoruba People and masks by the Igbo People. (Through August 28)

Richard Nonas: The Man in the Empty Space @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. Nonas has created a major new sculptural work specifically for Building 5, and will also install a selection of existing sculpture.

Masterworks: 225 Years of Collecting @ Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany. An exhibition commemorating the Institute’s 225th anniversary that highlights works from its diverse collections, including paintings, furniture, silver, ceramics, sculpture, prints and more. (Through September 4)

Both Sides Now: Lexa and Dan Walsh @ Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown. The first-time creative collaboration by sibling artists Lexa and Dan Walsh. Dan, a minimalist abstract painter, and Lexa, a socially engaged artist, come together to merge their practices around a shared interest in perception and encounters among objects and people. (Through September 25)

Slippery Slope by Georgie Friedman @ Peter Irving Wold Center, Schenectady. A site-specific video installation piece by interdisciplinary artist Georgie Friedman. (Through November 30)
